I Have a 1997 ranger with a 4.0. My question is how do i find out if its a sohc or dohc? Picture is attached.

If it's a 97, it's a 4.0 OHV.

4.0 SOHC came out in 2001.

i had my 95 4.0 dyno'd (basically stock, gutted cats, flowmaster exhuast, and cut up air box) and it laid down 143hp and 226 lb/ft torque to the rear wheels. factory ratings at the flywheel are supposed to be 160 hp/220lb/ft.

That's good to know! I don't think I've ever seen definitive proof before... now we don't have to speculate... LOL
