if you guys had like a truck not for like hardcore offroading but for like trails and back roads and stuff like that would you rather have a 4X4 or a 2X4 to do that?

I'd go with 4x4... never know when you may need it!

But that's not to say 4x2's cant have any fun!

Honestly, a Ranger 2wd can handle quite a bit! I dont have pictures or video of any of the times I go play but my 2wd can handle quite a bit of off roading through mud and rivers. My grandparents have nothing but backroads and trails up and down hill and ive never had a problem in my 4.10 geared 2wd. But the 4x4 would be handy for the "just in case" situiations. My truck is just a city truck that enjoys walks on the beach and occasional off roading. lol

4x4 hands down no questions asked. The only time I would wheel 2wd is doing some desert races. There are quite a few places I have been that there would be no way a 2wd could go through it.

If I were to get a dedicated trail truck it would be 73-79 F-250 or mid 80s Chevy. Both of those style trucks are beasts when it comes to just about anything.

yea i would be doing what olford does and my truck will be 98 % of the time a city driving truck and when i get my 4.0l in there it shouldn't be a problem doing back roads and trails

Ive got a 3.0 as well. I would advise to make sure you have the limited slip in the rear end. Before it was pucked up and is just a open diff, the trails were nothing with a L/S. Now that I dont have one its still easy to get through but it would have been much better with it. If it doesnt come on the truck then summitracing has the ford racing L/S for the 8.8" for $199
