I assume this is the clutch fan kicking in but it does it even if it is cold at random times kind of confused anyone else have the same thing happening to there truck?

Could be alternator or a.c. as well.

You think the ac clutch could be bad? I don't think it would be the alternator.

I'd put money on the AC Compressor. Mine did this a few years back and needed to be replaced. You could actually pop the hood and have someone rev the motor. When it idles back down, you will probably see the AC Compressor clicking to a stop.
