The 92 Ranger from HELL!!!!!!!

9071 Views 30 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  88!DANGER!Ranger
this is the start of my 92 Ranger build. I bought the truck fall 2009 fore $250. Thinking it would be an easy fix. It look like all it needed was a spring tower and fuel tank straps but was I ever WRONG. It wound up needing the spring tower, both rear cab mounts, tranny cross member, rear leaf spring shackles, both front calipers, exhaust from the cat back, windshield, fuel tank straps, oil change, and fuel door.

Yea, tell us your plans. Looks like a good start though.

Looks like a great project!
considering it's just a one wheel wonder I was thinking more along the lines of a summer DD and street truck
Just did the math and it's running me about $400 in parts. :'(
That's not that bad. I had a neighbor give me an '86 ranger extended cab [free], the body was in great shape. After salvage inspection and parts it cost C$2000.00
A month later the a4ld tranny blew, Another C$2000.00
2 years later head gaskets went. Once I get around to fixing that It'll be rebuilt front to back, top to bottom. Oh, other than the tranny, I did all the work.
Richard
P.S. free isn't all it's cracked up to be.

No **** on free not being all it's cracked up to be. I would have called it Quits be for it got to that point.
free is good as long as u have other truck so u are able to drive around i mean no one is breaking ur arm to fix the other truck lol
I didn't have a spare vehicle to drive when this happened. I'd already sunk $2000.00 into it and the only thing left to rebuild was the motor, which was running fine at the time. Another 1/2 decent work truck would have been ~$2000.00 anyway, and probably needed work somewhere.

thats y i haven't done anything major on my truck i needed it in the winter my focus don't have a plate and my lucerne well it's sritcly summer only but this summer i'm going to be building it up

NO that thing is way clean body wise for northern WI but the under side had a lot of rust
I was more referring to the undercarriage as well, but it is pretty clean looking from the pics you posted body wise. I am in the rust belt as well and see many rusted beyond road worthy vehicles that should be scrapped instead of on the road.
