Okay, I was gonna take a video today of the tapping sound but its pouring rain so heres a clip from a week ago... Its very windy in it but you can still hear it if you turn the sound up.

i was thinking loose rockers but due to that loud ass fasn i cant hear it under the hood... I hear it most on the passenger side at the front, which leads me to believe that it may be a cylinder rocker on that side.

well, i dont think its coming from the top of the engine anymore... i crawled under it while it was running and heard some tapping sounds in the oil pan area. Almost sounds like tapping but something bouncing around in there. I tried to take video of it. its hard to hear but heres two different videos of it:





The oil pressure is good and everything is fine... The only thing that isnt right with the truck, besides this tapping crap, is the fuel mapping causing the idle to studder every now and then... thats just a result in the intake and shortened exhaust setup.

Anyone have any ideas? Im thinking I may need to drain the oil and take off the oil pan so i can check out the bottom end.

on the two new videos it sounds like scraping bro. drain the oil make sure to get it all out and see if you find any metal in the oil pullin the pan is a pain while the motor is in the truck. thats if you can even pull it while the motor is still in the truck.

the oil was changed about 2500 miles ago and i strained the oil and there was no metal shavings or pieces... i gotta take the truck to get the new cruise control tomorrow at the dealership so im gonna ask them to check it out and see what they think it could be... just gonna make sure to tell them to not do anything with it until they talk to me first so i dont get a huge bill for something. Kinda nervous about all of this now that im hearing these sounds in the bottom end.

... I don't know if this will help, but what my pops would do to his oil pan is place a magnet on the bottom, so that if there was any metal in there, it would stick to the magnet. I don't know, if that helps. ;D

nope... warranty was done about a year ago i think and the truck is paid off... i want this engine to last but now im concerned... plus if it was under warranty they wouldnt cover it since i did that shortened aftermarket exhaust with the intake...

sounds to me that your motor is going to blow its the same exact noise mine made then it lost oil pressure and blew so get it checked asap man seriously

ummm, yeah im starting to feel sick now! Now im worried cuz if thats the case then im sol since theres no warranty, its my daily driver, ive put hundreds of dollars in aftermarket stuff in it, and im a poor college student. Im taking it in tomorrow for the cruise control tomorrow so hopefully the will have dome good news on the engine while its in there!

i would love to but the thing is money... im a college student strugglin to get by at times and the money just aint there, not even for a junked engine... worst thing is, its my dd so ill be out of luck it its real bad... i dont want to have to get rid of this truck, i love it to death and ive put so much work into it...

well, I took it in to get the new cruise control and get the sound checked out and they said everything sounds fine and nothing is abnormal... I asked them if they heard the tapping sound and they said that its not anything giving out or anything bad so i dont know... ill just keep going with it... sooooo, since they said that i shall post the videos in the burnouts thread! lol

i had them check that and the oil pump is in great shape and putting out max oil pressure.
