ok so i bought a new ranger and i would like to no how to disengage the 4x4 u turn it to 4wheel drive on the fly from neutral then u put it back in from neutral to 2wd now people said im suppose to go in reverse to disengage it completely is that true or no? please let me no -pat

I've always heard about the 10ft in reverse rule... never really understood it fully, but I always do it just in case...

You can shift in and out of 4hi on the fly. as long as you are going under 25 and arent on the gas it will shift flawlessly. To go into 4lo put the truck in neutral and shift into 4 lo then put the truck into gear.

okk thanks guys so i will keep using the 10ft rule to make sure it comes out smoothly so i dont ruin it and by the way is there any body out there that make manual 4x4 locks for the fronts?

Yes, I believe AVM makes a set for the 98+ Rangers
