I logged on today to complain. Now that I have got that off my chest, I will speak of something else. I called a local salvage yard today, and they quoted me $60 for an instrument cluster with tach from a Mercury Mountaineer. Sounds like a reasonable deal to me. My string broke on my shift indicator and the dealer wants $46 plus tax for a new shift indicator assembly (string is not sold separately) My cluster on my 1998 Ranger 3.0 does not have a tach, so for a few bucks more - Why not? Go with the Mountaineer one... not a bad deal.

It should bolt right in and AFAIK, the tach should work!
