Did you hear a popping sound when in reverse just before it stopped working?
NO REVERS IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
I do not have reverse.
Any ideas. Maybe something inexpensive to repair?

What were you doing when it went out? It could just be minor, but im guessing that transmission wont go reverse again. My buddy popped it in to reverse while going forward, and now he pushes his car out of every spot.
I have a 98 ranger and I was stopped and put in reverse and I heard a noise and it jerked. I thought I had hit something. Now I have no reverse. This is an automatic trans and it drives fine in all forward gears. I noticed a black box that the shift cable hooks to. I am hoping for some info on this. Thanks
