I have noticed that the steering effort on my 98 3.0 automatic , although normal is more that some other cars. I woriked for a Ford dealer for several years, and while I was there I asked a tech if there was any way to make the power steering easier. He said that it was possible, but he had never done it. I think that there is a spring in the pump that can be changed to modify it's output. I like steering that is one finger easy, but most late model cars aren't like that. One exception is the full size Ford Vans and sometimes the larger cars, like the Crown Victoria. Anybody out there that wished for better power steering and pursued the desire? Scruffybeast

I've always liked a little effort in my steering, as I think it helps me know what direction the wheels are pointing. I don't know if it actually works that way, it may all be in my head. Though I would like to know how to modify power steering. Just cause.
