My 2020 Lariat Super Crew seems to burn a lot of fuel and even though most of my driving is for making short runs around town.
The readout on the dash only gives it a 17mpg+ which is quite a ways from the 21/26 advertised, so does this sound valid?
I'm beginning to wonder if the tranny ever gets the chance to shift up into 10th gear.

Interesting, that no one has offered to give the mileage that they are getting with their Ranger, so that I might have some idea if this is a true reading.

I have a 2021 Lariat 4x4 Crew and that is what I get around town. I have actual logs using the Fuelly App. on my phone. Here are my logs, 17.7, 19.7, 21.3, 17.4, 21.5, 17.6 and 18.6. The 21 mpg's were on the highway. I also do not get close to 21/26 rating.

Thanks so much for the reply and even though you have a 4 x 4 that's a year newer, it does pretty much tell the story and now feel that there's really nothing wrong with it mechanically.
This makes me wonder what I was getting in my 03 F150, of which I have no idea. Never checked and it didn't have an onboard ECM or what have you, but guessing 12mpg at best under the same conditions.

I have a 2021 with the 2.3L. Based upon actual fill-up to fill-up miles driven, I’m getting between 27 and 29 MPG. My truck is a 4x2 and I do mostly highway driving.
Evidently highway driving makes quite a difference then. I'm just going by the readout and did see where it's life was as 19 and even though my trip was at 17 .
I haven't had the truck more than about 3 mons. and it was a rental with 64K, so not sure of it's driving history. Nice truck though and I really do like it.

Update: And after resetting the trips, so it's now just my driving, I'm getting 22 so far. I have done a few 20miles trips since, but it was still stop and go traffic and not like being on the interstate. So, pretty happy with that and considering the powerhouse this little four banger has.

I have a '22 XLT Supercrew 4x4. My truck has the FX4 suspension package and rides on 18" Hankook Dynapro tires. My lowest city mileage (when new) was 19mpg my highest hwy mpg has been 28 on a 525 mile trip.
My mileage now with 15,000 miles falls between 21 and 25. I haven't taken a long trip again, I will this Summer and I hope to match the 28 mpg again.

Sounds good, real good and now noticing that mine is getting better all the time, since resetting it and for removing past history. I bought the truck from Enterprise at quite a savings, but it did have 64K plus miles on it, so there was a lot of previous history that wasn't so good. The truck looks good and runs good and the mileage is of no concern to me, considering what little I drive per year.

I can't believe these trucks don't sell better, I've had a lot of Ford trucks, 150's and 250's. This truck is fast becoming my favorite!

I don't get it either and like you, really like this truck.
"In the first six months of the year, Ranger sales decreased about 42 percent to 33,840 units."
In fact, I almost got another F150 and now glad I didn't with this midsize being just right for me and with it's 7200 towing capabilities, if needed.

My son bought a 22 F-150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost, nice engine, nice truck, but it's fucking huge! These trucks are out of control. And he's a State Trooper, it's not his DD. Now his truck is an XL Sport package, it was $48k and it's a pretty basic truck. My Ranger is a 302A and has the tech package, tow package, FX4, Splash Package, cyber orange paint and priced out $41.5
He drove it and loved it, he's considering one for his wife. His mileage can be close at times but overall the Ranger is better. If you don't need the big vehicle it's the perfect size. I would have liked a 6' bed and it would be perfect. I hear the 24 might, but with 0% finance for 5 years my truck isn't going anywhere.

Except for the 5ft bed, it's not much smaller than my previous 2003 F150 and the new ones are more than I need for my use.
