Ford has developed new off-road technology that is designed to help drivers get back on the pavement.

When enabled with SYNC® 3 navigation, the Breadcrumbs feature works in the background to drop a virtual pin every second while out on the trail. When drivers need to return to the road, the feature provides them with a guide to get back to their starting point.

Based on satellite technology, the Satnav Breadcrumbs feature is included in Ranger’s navigation system and is available on XLT and Lariat series trucks. Breadcrumbs is also available on other Ford trucks equipped with SYNC 3 and navigation technology.

There's a video from Ford that shows it in action.

This is really cool technology and all but I wonder how many people are actually going to use this feature. I feel like this is going to be a feature a lot of people forget that they have.

It will be useful but lets be honest, how many people actually go off roading these days? And how many of them are active enough on communities like this?

Yeah that's true, the people that are doing that kind of off-roading aren't likely driving these kinds of trucks.
