Well here's something I didn't expect to read today.

Bill Ford revealed that he and Sergio Marchionne previously talked about merging Fiat-Chrysler with Ford.

He said that he had a "number of dinners together [with Marchionne] talking about ... whether Ford and FCA would be a good fit."

This is definitely a surprise to hear, especially with Ford and Volkswagen coming close to a deal for autonomous driving technology.

I'm personally glad Ford didn't decide to merge with Fiat-Chrylser, I just don't think it would've ended well. What does everyone think of this news?

Consolidation of resources can work to reduce upfront costs and hopefully provide us better products.
I support the merge.

I've never been a big fan of the quality of Fiat-Chrysler vehicles so I'd be worried that a partnership with them would have a bad effect on Fords.
