i needed to change the oil pan gasket ont he 3.0 01 auto trans with the trans out and engine on the mounts. it was not to bad to do took the old pone off from around the pan cleans the surfaces good and put on some gasket shellac then placed the gasket around the pan and visually aligned the holes int he gasket to the pan. let the gasket stick to the shellac and put the bolts back it. at first i just put them in a few turns to allow me to move the gasket as i needed after they were all in place i tightened them up not a bd job. then i removed the rear main seal using a deck screw welded to a rod and put vice grips on it and tapped iot out. then put grease on the seal surface and tapped it back into the seal bore. job took about 2 hours to do. so don't let them say it can't be done. yea i know pulling the engine or lifting it may be better but at this point i had no choice. so for those who find themselves in this spot it can be done without that much work.
