i have a 05 edge 2wd and am starting my conversion to 4wd now i have the axles and suspension worked out the only thing i am brainstorming is that i would like to keep my 3.0 for personal reasons. question is did ford make a 4wd ranger with the 3.0 in it that i can rob the tranny and transfer out of ? or b3000 for that matter? i could run a divorce mount off my 5 speed but would rater just run one that bolts to my tranny. now i already know im gonna have to get both the transmission and the t-case because my 5-speed is a single mold tranny? any one messed around in the 3.0 world or is every buddie rollin with 4.0's and v8 swaps. any help would be usefull.

If you have a 5 speed then you have a M50D trans. They are had to come by with the 3.0 bolt pattern, but you can swap the tail shaft and tail housing from any 4x4 M50D (doesn't matter what year or motor). For tcase it would be easiest to run a manual case that way you doent have to get into the 100 miles of 4x4 wiring. The best tcase for your application would be a 1354 manual case. I believe the the 98+ trucks use a CV joint at the front output on case, so you will need to find one from a 98+ Ranger or Expo.
