Not to burst your bubble, but it will be a lot less headache just to buy a 4x4. Also, personally if I had a 2wd that I wanted to make 4x4 I would skip the stock suspension part and just put a solid axle up front.

But to answer your questions, the transfer case will not bolt to your current transmission unless you change out the tail section as well. You will also need new driveshafts as well, along with pretty much every front suspension part.

If you have a 2wd and a 4wd both side by side, you can do it. Otherwise you're in for a hell of a headache. The Bronco only uses a Dana 28 front. Basically good enough for a yamaha big bear ATV and nothing bigger. Hahaha. Converting to a solid axle front is actually easier than swapping stock stuff in. I've done both jobs before. I saw an article once on changing a 2wd tranny to a 4wd in a ranger. Basically required full disassembly of the transmission and sapping shafts. If you're comfortable with doing that, then give it a go. Take pictures and writeup what you did to help others.

Unfortunently it's a 2.9L auto with 1979 Bronco axles. Once I get the parts in for my fuel and cooling system, it's going to be a 7.4L (429+0.060)SEFI with a ZF 5-speed/NP205. Should have a bit more grunt than the 2.9 >:?
